Fuel
Fuel: Pick up and return full. Your vehicle will be supplied with a full tank of fuel. To avoid incurring fuel charges, you will need to return it with the same amount of fuel as it had when you collected it. You may be required to leave a fuel deposit reserved or charged on your credit card, this will be released or refunded when you return the car full. Missing fuel will be charged on your return. The price per litre charged by the rental agent may be significantly higher than the price at the local service station. A refuelling charge may also be applicable.
Driver's age
25 to 99 years. Customers who fall outside the age limitations will not be able to hire a car unless there is a young or senior driver fee specified in this section. Please note that if applicable, this fee will be included in the rental price and will be payable on arrival at the rental desk in the local currency.
Travel Restrictions
Parts of Australia are not suitable for access by rental vehicles. To prevent Damage to the Vehicle and for Your own personal safety We strictly enforce conditions that restrict Your use of the Vehicle and unless We have given Our prior written consent, You must never take the Vehicle: (a) on any Unsealed Road unless Unsealed Road Cover has been purchased; (b) above the Snow Line unless Snow Cover has been purchased;
(c) Off Road;
(d) between mainland Australia and Tasmania in either direction; (e) onto any island with the exception of:
(vi) Bruny Island,
(f) through any river, stream, creek or tidal crossing; (g) through flood waters or on flood prone roads or on any road where the state or condition of the road make the use of the Vehicle unsafe; (h) on any road where the police or any government or statutory authority has issued a warning, caution or which has been closed; (i) onto any road where We have notified You that the use of the Vehicle is prohibited;
(j) in Queensland:
(i) north of Chillagoe or west of Georgetown;
(iv) north of Maggieville;
(v) on Unsealed Roads north and west of Mt Isa;
(vii) on the Savannah Way;
(k) on the Tanami Track and the Gunbarrel Highway in Western Australia and the Northern Territory; or
Please note
  • A deposit amount from a minimum of AUD 200.0 to a maximum of AUD 500.0 will be held against your credit card for the duration of the rental.
  • Your deposit is a guarantee held in the event of damage/theft of the vehicle.
  • This will be released if there is no theft or damage during the rental period.
  • Please note that this does not represent your total excess liability which can be found in the Insurance Coverage section.
  • Credit card(s) must be valid for up to 6 months after the rental has ended.
  • NOT ACCEPTED: No other payment types will be accepted.
  • Virtual payment cards are not accepted.
  • A valid credit card in the first name and surname (no abbreviations) of the lead driver must be presented at the rental desk in order to pre-authorise/charge a deposit.
  • Please be prepared to provide the PIN number of the credit card(s) presented as suppliers could require this to proceed with the rental contract.
  • In the event that you fail to present a valid credit card, there is a lack of sufficient funds available on the credit card or the credit card is not in the lead driver's name, the car rental agent may refuse to release the vehicle.
  • In these instances, no funds paid will be reimbursed.
  • A fuel deposit might be blocked on the main driver’s credit card.
  • This is done to cover expenses that may occur if the renter fails to comply with the agreed fuel policy.

Driving licence

  • The main driver’s original full licence (physical driving licence) held for a minimum of 3 year(s) with no major endorsements. UK licence holders must present a photocard licence.
  • International Driving Permit is required. International Driving Permit must be accompanied by the original domestic licence of the driver.
  • Europcar Australia now accepts all Australian digital driver's licenses at all Australian locations.
  • As a precaution, it's recommend that you also carry your physical licence with you to cover any possible issues that may arise with your phone e.g flat battery.
